Dressing Your Bridesmaids

When choosing your bridesmaids’ attire, keep these ideas and tips in mind…

  • Be considerate…
It is common for the bridesmaids to pay for their own dresses and accessories, so be considerate of your attendants’ budgets as well as their sizes and personal styles. With that being said, it is important to think about your wedding formality and the bridal gown when considering what type of bridesmaids’ dresses you would like your attendants to wear. Buying shoes can be expensive as well. Think about the option of allowing them to wear black or a neutral color that they will be able to wear again with their wardrobe. If the bridal attendants will need to dye their shoes all the same color, be sure to have them all dyed at the same location and at the same time. This is important if you have an unusual color. The location will need to mix colors specifically for your wedding. This will ensure consistency among all of the shoes.
  • Be consistent…
The bridesmaids’ dresses should be similar to a degree, such as hem length, material and color. If you choose a color such as purple for your attendants, and that hue of purple does not work well with all skin tones, allow your attendants to choose different shades of purple that blend well together. Also keep in mind that not all bridesmaids will have the same figure, and it is very important to consider allowing different styles while still having the color, length and material blend well. Consider having the matron of honor wear a different color than the other attendants, or have the matron of honor wear the same hem length as the bride.

These few simple suggestions will leave your bridesmaids less stressed about the financial aspects of your wedding and more comfortable in their own shoes.
